Carole and Gordon Segal co-founded Crate & Barrel in 1962. Gordon is a life member of the Northwestern University Board of Trustees and chair of the Educational Properties Committee. He received a bachelor’s degree in business from Northwestern in 1960. In 2007, the Segals made a generous gift to Northwestern to establish the Segal Design Institute. The Segal Visitors Center opened in the fall of 2014.
